MTN Mobile Money, in collaboration with dfcu Bank and Letshego Uganda, has unveiled two new agent loan products aimed at providing instant, collateral-free working capital to mobile money agents, enhancing financial flexibility and service continuity across Uganda.

 

Kampala, Uganda – MTN Mobile Money Uganda (MTN MoMo), in partnership with dfcu Bank and Letshego Uganda, has launched two innovative loan products under the MoMo Agent Loans Marketplace: the dfcu Bank Weekend Agent Loan and the Agent Float Loan with Letshego.

The new offerings are designed to provide mobile money agents with instant access to working capital, ensuring uninterrupted service and greater financial flexibility.

The dual product launch aligns with MTN’s Power To Be More campaign, which aims to empower agents to deliver more value to their customers and communities. It also underscores the partners’ commitment to strengthening financial inclusion by enabling agents—who serve as critical touchpoints in Uganda’s digital economy—to access affordable, digital credit.

The dfcu Bank Weekend Agent Loan is a short-term, digital facility available exclusively on weekends. Agents can borrow between Shs1 million and Shs5 million by dialing #16553#, with funds disbursed instantly into their float wallets.

The loan is repayable within three days and requires no collateral, helping agents maintain sufficient liquidity during peak transaction periods.

Meanwhile, the Agent Float Loan with Letshego offers flexible short-term financing throughout the week. Agents can access between Shs300,000 and Shs5 million by dialing 16552, choosing repayment terms of seven or fourteen days.

The facility carries competitive interest rates, requires no collateral, and allows early repayment without penalties, promoting responsible borrowing and business growth.

Speaking at the launch, MTN MoMo Uganda Chief Product Officer Jemima Kariuki emphasized the company’s commitment to empowering its agent network.

“Together with dfcu Bank and Letshego Uganda, we are introducing innovative loan products that supplement our agents’ liquidity and provide convenient access to funds beyond traditional banking hours. These solutions will enable our agents to deliver seamless digital transactions across Uganda, giving them the Power to Do More,” she said.

Giles Germany Aijukwe, CEO of Letshego Uganda, highlighted the partnership’s role in supporting small business owners.

“Our collaboration with MTN MoMo is unlocking fast and reliable working capital for thousands of mobile money agents, the everyday entrepreneurs powering Uganda’s digital economy.

Agents can now secure short-term float without collateral, keeping their businesses active and customers served without interruption,” he said.

dfcu Bank CEO Charles Mudiwa also welcomed the initiative, noting its alignment with the bank’s focus on financial inclusion and SME support.

“The dfcu Bank Weekend Agent Loan provides timely, reliable working capital that keeps agents’ businesses running and customers served. We are proud to strengthen Uganda’s entrepreneurial backbone and expand access to financial services,” he stated.

By simplifying access to credit and providing flexible financing options, MTN MoMo, Letshego Uganda, and dfcu Bank are empowering agents to maintain operations, serve customers efficiently, and advance Uganda’s digital financial ecosystem.
